JX Sunflowers win 2011/2012 title with 3-1 in the series over Toyota. JX Sunflowers needed 77:66 win to become the winner of the League. Yuka Mamiya (184-C/F-90) became MVP of the Finals. It looked good early as Toyota A. took a 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then JX Sunflowers had a 25-18 second period charge getting the lead and Toyota A. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-77. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Yuka Yuka Mamiya who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Lynn Lynn Kibayashi (184-C/F-89) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four JX Sunflowers players scored in double figures. Maya Maya Kawahara (167-G-87) answered with 18 points and the former international forward Kazumi Suzuki added 7 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Toyota.

Japan claimed the first win at the East Asian Championship in South Korea. They fired past Macau for 1-1 record in Group A. Yuta Watanabe (200-SF-94) delivered 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead the winners.

Japan claimed the first win at the East Asian Championship in South Korea. They fired past Macau for 1-1 record in Group A. Yuta Watanabe (200-SF-94) delivered 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead the winners. Japan led from start to finish in this one. They dominated every facet of the game. Japan built a 25:13 lead ten minutes into the game. They exploded with 28 points in the second period to gain a 53:27 halftime advantage. Japan did not loosen the grasp in the third term. They dropped 23 points to secure a 35-point buffer before the final stanza. Taiwan managed just 12 points in the fourth quarter as Japan cruised to the victory. Kosuke Kanamaru (193-F/G-89) netted 15 points, while Makoto Hiejima (190-G-90) added 14 points in the victory. Ka Tong Lai (191-C-95) responded with 15 points for Macau. Tong Fai Cheong (190-PG-93) had 14 points in the losing case.

South Korea clinched the opening win at the East Asian Championship in Incheon. The hosts overcame powerful Japan in front of a supportive crowd at the Samsan World Gymnasium. Park Chan-Hee (190-G-87) posted 14 points, 6 rebound and 5 assists to lead the charge. The hosts jumped to an early advantage. South Korea easily overcame Japan zone defence to take a 24:15 lead after the starting quarter. South Korea limited Japan to just 4 points in the second period to accumulate a 40:19 halftime advantage. The Korean team maintained the lead throughout the third quarter. They made it a 61:34 advantage heading into the final period. Japan finally found the rhythm in the fourth period firing 21 points but it was too late to avoid the loss. Kim Min-Goo netted 13 points, while Park Jae-Hyun (187-G-91) and Kim Jong-Kyu (207-C-91) added 10 points apiece in the victory. Ryota Sakurai (194-G-83) answered with 12 points for Japan. Kosuke Takeuchi (206-C/F-85) netted 9 points and grabbed 13 boards in the losing case.
