Very expected game when 8th ranked NeoPhoenix (10-14) lost to third ranked SeaHorses (17-7) in Hamamatsu 94-109 on Saturday. Sea Horses M. made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 68.2 percentage. Sea Horses M. looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The winners were led by American forward Jake Layman (206-1994, college: Maryland) who scored that evening 19 points and 8 rebounds and Yudai Nishida supported him with 23 points and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 31 points and 13 rebounds by American-Nigerian swingman David Nwaba (195-1993, college: Cal Poly) did not help to save the game for San-en NP. American power forward Cameron Jackson (203-1996, college: Wofford, agency: Slash Sports) added 12 points and 6 assists. Five Sea Horses M. and four San-en NP players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sea Horses M. maintains third position with 17-7 record having just three points less than leader Nagasaki. Loser NeoPhoenix dropped to the seventh place with 14 games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Sea Horses M. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. San-en NP will play against Sea Horses M. (#3) and hope to secure a win.
