B1 League top team - Velca (45-12) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat twelfth ranked Fighting Eagles (17-40) in Nagoya 83-73. Nagasaki forced 21 FE Nagoya turnovers. American Jarrell Brantley (201-1996, college: Charleston) stepped up and scored 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import Stanley Johnson (201-1996, college: Arizona) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. Four Velca players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Ryuto Yasuoka (188-1995) with 20 points and American Jamorko Pickett (206-1997, college: Georgetown) scored 20 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Velca have a solid series of four victories in a row. Nagasaki maintains first place with 45-12 record. FE Nagoya lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with 40 games lost. They share it with Ibaraki R.. Nagasaki will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. FE Nagoya will play at home against the league's leader Nagasaki (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
