Everything went according to plan when third ranked SeaHorses (12-6) edged on the road 9th ranked Chiba (6-12) 70-68 on Sunday. American forward Jake Layman (206-1994, college: Maryland) notched 15 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import power forward Davante Gardner (203-1991, college: Marquette) supported him with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Even 10 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals by Greek-American center Zach Auguste (208-1993, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Chiba. American forward Trey Porter (210-1996, college: Nevada, agency: JCK Sports Group) added 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Chiba players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. SeaHorses have a solid four-game winning streak. Sea Horses M. maintains third position with 12-6 record having just three points less than leader Nagasaki, which they share with Ryukyu and Gunma CT. Chiba lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with FE Nagoya and Yokohama BC. Sea Horses M. will meet at home Shiga L-Stars (#7) in the next round. Chiba will play against Osaka E. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
