There was no surprise in Hamamatsu where 13th rankedHappinets (5-24) were defeated by tenth ranked NeoPhoenix (12-17) 85-70 on Saturday. San-en NP looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American-Nigerian swingman David Nwaba (195-1993, college: Cal Poly) stepped up and scored 22 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and Sota Oura chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Nwaba is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five NeoPhoenix players scored in double figures. Australian power forward Keanu Pinder (210-1995, college: Arizona) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and American center Jamel McLean (203-1988, college: Xavier) scored 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. San-en NP moved-up to eighth place, which they share with FE Nagoya and Osaka E. Loser Happinets keeps the thirteenth position with 24 games lost. San-en NP will meet at home Akita NH (#13) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Akita NH will have a break next round.
