Regular Season Round 14: Akita NH - Gunma CT 48-81

There was no surprise in Akita where 11th ranked Happinets (2-12) were crushed by fifth ranked Thunders (8-6) 81-48 on Saturday. Gunma CT made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Gunma CT outrebounded Akita NH 39-24 including 30 on the defensive glass. Gunma CT looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Kerry Blackshear Jr (208-1997, college: Florida) had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Terrance Woodbury (203-1987, college: Georgia) chipped in 18 points during the contest. Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Thunders players scored in double figures. Thunders' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. New Zealand-German center Yannick Wetzell (206-1996, college: SDSU) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and Australian power forward Keanu Pinder (210-1995, college: Arizona) scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. Thunders have a solid four-game winning streak. Gunma CT moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Akita NH lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Kawasaki and Ibaraki R.. Gunma CT will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Akita NH will play against Gunma CT (#5) and hope to secure a win.
