There was no surprise in Kariya where 6th rankedDragonflies (28-22) were defeated by third ranked SeaHorses (35-15) 93-84 on Wednesday. Hiroshima D. trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 27-25 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 84-93 at the end of the game. SeaHorses looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American forward Jake Layman (206-1994, college: Maryland) scored 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Aaron White (206-1992, college: Iowa, agency: Slash Sports) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. Forward Keijiro Mitani (189-2001) responded with 25 points and American guard Christopher Smith (193-1994, college: Utah St.) scored 16 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sea Horses M. maintains third position with 35-15 record having just two points less than leader Nagasaki, which they share with Ryukyu. Loser Dragonflies keeps the sixth place with 22 games lost.
