There was an upset in Sendai where higher ranked89ers (20-14) were defeated by eleventh ranked Chiba (10-24) 80-71 on Saturday. Chiba looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American center Dererk Pardon (203-1996, college: Northwestern) fired 7 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Reo Maeda (191-1997, agency: Schafer Sports) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Four Chiba players scored in double figures. American Nathan Boothe (208-1994, college: Toledo) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and guard Yusho Araya (189-1998) added 21 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Chiba moved-up to tenth place. Loser 89ers keep the sixth position with 14 games lost.
