ButBrave Thunders were not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Hiroshima 91-83 on Saturday night. Hiroshima D. made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game, while Kawasaki only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Kawasaki 42-30 including 33 on the defensive glass. Jamaican center Kofi Cockburn (213-1999, college: Illinois) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American guard Christopher Smith (193-1994, college: Utah St.) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side Serbian center Dusan Ristic (213-1995, college: Arizona) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and Lebanese guard Sergio El Darwich (194-1996, college: Maine) scored 21 points and 4 steals. Five Hiroshima D. and four Kawasaki players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
