There was a minor upset when higher rankedChiba (3-3) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Grouses (3-3) 99-95 on Saturday. Toyama G. made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was Syrian-American guard Trey Kell III (193-1996, college: SDSU, agency: Slash Sports) who scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). The former international forward Naoki Uto (191-1991) chipped in 25 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Dererk Pardon (203-1996, college: Northwestern) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists and his fellow American import guard Jarrett Culver (198-1999, college: Texas Tech) added 12 points and 7 assists respectively. Four Toyama G. and five Chiba players scored in double figures. Chiba's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Toyama G. moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 8 other teams including defeated Chiba .
