There was no surprise in Gunma where 9th rankedNeoPhoenix (11-16) was crushed by fifth ranked Thunders (17-10) 96-69 on Saturday. Gunma CT outrebounded San-en NP 35-19 including a 27-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gunma CT looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Kerry Blackshear Jr (208-1997, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import guard Terrance Woodbury (203-1987, college: Georgia) helped adding 21 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Thunders players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American-Nigerian swingman David Nwaba (195-1993, college: Cal Poly) with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Cameron Jackson (203-1996, college: Wofford, agency: Slash Sports) scored 15 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gunma CT moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Alvark Tokyo and Ryukyu. Loser NeoPhoenix dropped to the eighth position with 16 games lost. They share it with FE Nagoya and Shiga L-Stars.
