Regular Season Round 48: Hiroshima D. - Chiba Jets 85-79

The most important game in the last round took place in Hiroshima between second ranked Jets (32-16) and sixth ranked Dragonflies (28-20) on Saturday night. Jets were defeated by Dragonflies in a tough game on the road 79-85. Hiroshima D. looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a good game for Jamaican center Kofi Cockburn (213-1999, college: Illinois) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American forward Dwayne Evans (201-1992, college: St.Louis, agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The former international forward Yuta Watanabe (206-1994, college: GWU) replied with 21 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-1993) added 22 points in the effort for Chiba Jets. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hiroshima D. maintains sixth position with 28-20 record, which they share with Sendai 89ers. Chiba Jets lost third consecutive game. They keep the second place with 16 games lost. They share the position with Gunma CT. Hiroshima D. is looking forward to face league's second-placed Chiba Jets at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
