Regular Season Round 54: Hiroshima D. - Shimane SM 102-104

The most exciting game of round 54 in the B1 League took place in Hiroshima. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 6th ranked Dragonflies (30-24) to eighth ranked Magic (25-29) 104-102 on Saturday evening. Shimane SM dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Dragonflies's 32 and made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Shimane SM looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. It was a good game for Australian Nick Kay (206-1992, college: MSU Denver) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Coty Clarke (201-1992, college: Arkansas, agency: Slash Sports) contributed with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Magic's coach Petar Bozic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Jamaican center Kofi Cockburn (213-1999, college: Illinois) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists and American guard Christopher Smith (193-1994, college: Utah St.) added 31 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Hiroshima D.Five Shimane SM and four Hiroshima D. players scored in double figures. Shimane SM moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Yokohama BC. Hiroshima D. at the other side keeps the sixth position with 24 games lost. Shimane SM will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hiroshima D. will play at home against Shimane SM (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
