Regular Season Round 23: Akita NH - Sea Horses M. 89-85

There was an upset in Akita where 3rd placed SeaHorses (16-7) were defeated by twelfth ranked Happinets (4-19) 89-85 on Sunday. Akita NH looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for New Zealand-German center Yannick Wetzell (206-1996, college: SDSU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Australian power forward Keanu Pinder (210-1995, college: Arizona) helped adding 26 points and 6 rebounds. American Ryan Luther (206-1995, college: Arizona) responded with 21 points and 6 assists and the other American import forward Aaron White (206-1992, college: Iowa, agency: Slash Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Sea Horses M. players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Akita NH moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Kawasaki. Loser SeaHorses keeps the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Ryukyu and Gunma CT. Akita NH will meet Ibaraki R. (#13) in the next round. Sea Horses M. will play against San-en NP (#8) in Hamamatsu and hope to secure a win.
