Regular Season Round 42: Alvark Tokyo - Chiba 87-81

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Alvark (30-12) beat 10th ranked Chiba (14-28) in Tokyo 87-81 on Wednesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Spanish Sebastian Saiz (205-1994, college: Ole Miss) notched 21 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and American Marcus Foster (191-1995, college: Creighton) supported him with 18 points. Alvark's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) by American forward Trey Porter (210-1996, college: Nevada, agency: JCK Sports Group) did not help to save the game for Chiba. The former international guard Kotetsu Kurokawa (175-2001) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. Four Chiba players scored in double figures. Alvark have an impressive five-game winning streak. Alvark Tokyo maintains second position with 30-12 record having just two points less than leader Nagasaki, which they share with Chiba Jets. Newly promoted Chiba keeps the tenth place with 28 games lost. They share the position with Shiga L-Stars. Alvark Tokyo will meet Gunma CT (#5) on the road in the next round. Chiba will play against Hiroshima D. (#5) and hope to secure a win.
