Regular Season Round 13: Sunrockers Sh. - Shimane SM 77-74

The most exciting game of round 13 in the B1 League took place in Tokyo. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Magic (9-4) to eighth ranked SunRockers (5-8) 77-74 on Wednesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Magic. Sunrockers Sh. made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Shimane SM outrebounded Sunrockers Sh. 40-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American-Qatari forward Donte Grantham (203-1995, college: Clemson) stepped up and scored 18 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winners and Leo Vendrame chipped in 19 points and 5 assists. Four SunRockers players scored in double figures. At the losing side Australian Nick Kay (206-1992, college: MSU Denver) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and Yuta Okada scored 18 points. Sunrockers Sh. moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Shimane SM at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with Hokkaido L.. Sunrockers Sh.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Alvark Tokyo.
