B1 League top team - Velca (42-12) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Robots (15-39) in Mito 90-69. Nagasaki dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Robots's 32. Nagasaki looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American Stanley Johnson (201-1996, college: Arizona) notched 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and South Korean swingman Hyunjung Lee (201-2000, college: Davidson) supported him with 16 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by German Tim Schneider (208-1997) did not help to save the game for Ibaraki R.. American Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) added 15 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Nagasaki maintains first position with 42-12 record. Ibaraki R. lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 39 games lost. Nagasaki will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ibaraki R. will play against the league's leader Nagasaki (#1) and hope to secure a win.
