Regular Season Round 5: Nagasaki - Sea Horses M. 107-82

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Velca (4-1) outplayed 8th ranked SeaHorses (2-3) in Nagasaki 107-82 on Wednesday. Nagasaki outrebounded Sea Horses M. 36-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Nagasaki shot the lights out from three sinking 20 long-distance shots on high 51.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American players dominated the game. Stanley Johnson (201-1996, college: Arizona) nailed 37 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds for the winning side and Jarrell Brantley (201-1996, college: Charleston) accounted for 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Davante Gardner (203-1991, college: Marquette) came up with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Thomas Kennedy (201-1987, college: Detroit) added 17 points respectively for Sea Horses M. in the defeat. Four Nagasaki and five Sea Horses M. players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Velca. Nagasaki maintains first place with 4-1 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Sea Horses M. at the other side dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with 6 other teams. Nagasaki will meet league's second-placed Sunrockers Sh. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sea Horses M. will play against Tochigi Brex (#3) and hope to secure a win.
