There was no surprise in Akita where 13th ranked Happinets (10-46) were crushed by fifth ranked Sapporo (35-21) 108-76 on Wednesday. Hokkaido L. dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Happinets's 38. Hokkaido L. outrebounded Akita NH 45-21 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Hokkaido L. looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Kevin Jones (203-1989, college: WVU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import center Max Hisatake (203-1998, college: IlIinois Tech) who added 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Sapporo players scored in double figures. New Zealand-German center Yannick Wetzell (206-1996, college: SDSU) responded with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and Lebanese point guard Ali Mezher (182-1994) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hokkaido L. maintains fifth position with 35-21 record. Akita NH lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 46 games lost. Hokkaido L. will meet at home league's second-placed Gunma CT in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Akita NH will play against Toyama G. (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
