There was a small surprise when fourth rankedGolden Kings (42-18) rolled over on the road top-ranked Tochigi Brex (45-15) 92-70 on Sunday. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Ryukyu dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Tochigi Brex 's 26. They outrebounded Tochigi Brex 54-23 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American power forward Jack Cooley (206-1991, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and international center Alex Kirk (211-1991, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) supported him with 19 points and 14 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Five Golden Kings players scored in double figures. Even 13 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists by American guard DJ Newbill (193-1992, college: Penn State) did not help to save the game for Tochigi Brex . His fellow American import power forward Gavin Edwards (206-1988, college: UConn, agency: Octagon Europe) added 13 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ryukyu moved-up to second place, which they share with Chiba Jets and Gunma CT. Defending champion Tochigi Brex still keeps top position with 15 games lost.
