Regular Season Round 40: Saga B. - Tochigi Brex 87-90

Sixth-ranked Ballooners (21-19) gave a tough game to first ranked Tochigi Brex (30-10) in Saga. The visitors from Tochigi managed to secure only three-point victory 90-87. However their fans expected much easier game. Tochigi Brex made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The winners were led by center Grant Jerrett (208-1993, college: Arizona) who scored that evening 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and guard DJ Newbill (193-1992, college: Penn State) supported him with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Tochigi Brex's coach Zico Coronel allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists by power forward Tanner Groves (208-1999, college: Oklahoma) did not help to save the game for Saga B.. David Dudzinski (205-1992, college: Holy Cross) added 23 points for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tochigi Brex have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 30-10 record. Saga B. lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 19 games lost. They share the position with San-en NP and Shimane SM. Tochigi Brex will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Saga B. will play again at home against the league's leader Tochigi Brex (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
