Japan beat Lebanon, both finish with 3-5 records at the 2012 William Jones Cup. Japan needed 89:70 win to tie both records.
Both teams scored 18 points each in the first period and then Japan produced 24-16 in the second frame for 8-point lead at the halftime. They added 26-18 in the third quarter and never looked behind after. Moreover Japan posted another 21-18 in the last stanza for the final success.
Kosuke Takeuchi (206-C/F-85) top-scored for the winners with 24 points and Kosuke Kanamaru (193-F/G-89) nailed 13. Hironori Watanabe (180-G-88) poured in 12, while Takahiro Kurihara (192-G/F-87) added 10. Jarrid Famous (209-C/F-88, college: S.Florida) collected 21 points and 13 rebounds in the losing effort. Ahmad IBRAHIM and Hussein EL KHATIB followed him with 13 points apiece.
The Philippines won the tourney with a 7-1 record, dropping the only game to Lebanon.
