BC Astana opened the series with a comfortable 85:63 victory. Armon Johnson (190-G-89, college: Nevada) delivered 20 points to lead the winners. BC Astana enjoyed a 44:26 halftime lead. They stayed dominant in the second half and cruised to the victory at the end. David Simon (208-C-82, college: IPFW) provided 14 points, while Kolesnikov added 10 points in the win. Yuriy Kozhanov (194-G-90) answered with 14 points for Kapshagay. Otbozin netted 10 points in the loss. BC Astana clinched a 94:76 victory on the next day. David Simon topscored for the winners with 22 points. BC Astana exploded with 52 points in the first half to establish a 13-point buffer. Kapshagay cut the deficit at 4-point mark at the final intermission. But BC Astana ignited a 30:16 run in the final period and sealed the win at the end. Armon Johnson had 20 points, while Brion Rush (186-G-84, agency: Beo Basket, college: Grambling St.) added 19 points for the winning side. Maxim Shepil (197-G-86, agency: New Trend Agency) finished with 24 points for Kapshagay. Yuriy Kozhanov chipped in 11 points in the defeat.

Previously the centre had stints in Serbia, Russia and Kazakhstan. Anton Ponomaryov earned All-Kazakhstan League 1st Team appearance back in 2010. He has been the member of the Kazakhstan National Team since 2005. The centre also played for U18, U20 and University National Teams. Anton Ponomaryov shone at the 2009 Asian Championship in China. He tallied 15.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game at the tournament.
