Shakir Smith (ex Al Bashaer) signs at Al Karkh

Shakir Smith

Al Karkh (Superleague) landed 32-year old American 185cm point guard Shakir Smith (college: ASU). He already started the season at Al Bashaer in Omani D1 league. In three games he averaged 8.7ppg, 4.0rpg and 3.7apg. The last season season he played at Aktobe (National League) in Kazakhstan league.
He is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in eight different countries playing on three different continents. Smith is familiar with European, Asian and of course North American leagues. He has played previously professionally in Bulgaria (Akademik Plovdiv), Iceland (IR Reykjavik), Kazakhstan, Portugal (Sporting), Spain (Cantabria), Sweden (Norrkoping) and North Macedonia (Blokotehna).
Among many awards his team won Portuguese Hugo dos Santos Cup in 2022. Smith received Eurobasket.com All-Balkan League Player of the Year award and Eurobasket.com All-Balkan League Import Player of the Year award back in 2020.
He graduated from Adams State University in 2016 and it is his ninth season in pro basketball. Smith played for other colleges like: Pima Community College, University of Wyoming.
