Point guard Anuar Shakirov (180-PG-2000) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for MBK Kazygurt Shymkent, receiving a Hoops Agents Higher League Player of the Week award for round 18.
The 24-year old player was the main contributor (32 points, five rebounds and eight assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush Turan (#1, 14-2) with 17-point margin 81-64. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Shymkent maintains the 3rd position in Kazakhstan Higher League. They are still close to the very top. Shymkent would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 12-3 record. In the team's last game Shakirov had a remarkable three three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He has many years of experience at Shymkent, through which he has constantly improved. Anuar Shakirov has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 22.9ppg. Shakirov is in league's top in assists (4th best: 5.2apg) and averages impressive 2.7spg and 51.4% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Bektimir Tau (200-PF-2007) of Champ1on. Tau had a very good evening with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Champ1on was edged by slightly higher-ranked ChelSU (#4, 8-7) 74-71. Champ1on managed to keep the same 6th spot in the standings. 14 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Champ1on managed to get this year. Tau is a newcomer at Champ1on, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Shymkent's star - forward Artem Parfenov (198-F-1998). Parfenov scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds (!!!). He was another key player of MBK Kazygurt Shymkent, helping his team with a 81-64 easy win against #1 ranked Turan in a game of the week. Shymkent is closer and closer to top of the standings. They will still need more victories. But 12-3 record is not that bad... Parfenov has a great season in Kazakhstan. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.1rpg (6th best).
