Best players of Kazakhstan National League round 1 (by Hoops Agents)

American Michael Mays (178-PG-1999) had an amazing evening in the last round for BK Barsy Atyrau and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 26-year old playmaker had the game-high 33 points adding three rebounds and five assists for Barsy Atyrau in his team's victory, helping them to beat Caspiy Aktau (#4, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 84-78. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Thanks to this victory Barsy Atyrau moved-up to the 3rd position in Kazakhstan National League. Barsy Atyrau is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-2 record. In the team's last game Mays had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 10 attempts. He turned to be Barsy Atyrau's top player in his first season with the team. King University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Mays is league's best scorer averaging so far 28.8ppg. Mays is in league's top in assists (9th best: 3.8apg) and averages solid 46.2% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young international center Vladimir Ivanov (208-C-1994) of BK Caspiy Aktau. Ivanov impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 29 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Caspiy Aktau lost that game 78-84 to Barsy Atyrau (2-2). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Ivanov is a newcomer at Caspiy Aktau and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.5ppg (#2). The third best performed player last round was American EJ Day (180-PG-1999) of second-ranked BK Astana. Day scored 23 points and passed 6 assists. He was a key player of Astana, leading his team to a 87-61 easy win against #3 ranked Barsy Atyrau in a game of the week. Astana has a very good start of the season. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Day also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. Day has a great season in Kazakhstan. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.5ppg (3rd best) and assists with 8.0apg (best passer).
