Best players of Kazakhstan Higher League round 20 (by Hoops Agents)

Alymzhan Maksutov

Experienced Alymzhan Maksutov (180-G-1994) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's leader Turan and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Higher League Player of the Week award for round 20.
The 30-year old guard had the game-high 29 points adding nine rebounds and three assists for Turan in his team's victory, helping them to crush Bars (#2, 15-4) with 25-point margin 90-65. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Turan to consolidate first place in the Kazakhstan Higher League. Turan have a solid 17-2 record. In the team's last game Maksutov had a remarkable 56.3% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Turan and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Maksutov has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (4th best: 17.9ppg) and assists (8th best: 3.9apg).

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Turan's star - young Begzod Mammatrimov (198-C/F-2004). Mammatrimov impressed basketball fans with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course together with Maksutov he helped Turan with another comfortable win outscoring slightly lower-ranked Bars (#2, 15-4) 90-65. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Turan consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. His team lost just two games this season, while they won 17 matches. Mammatrimov is well-known by Turan fans and together with Alymzhan Maksutov they both established positions among team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Maxim Zhukov (173-PG-2001) of ChelSU Kostanay (#4). Zhukov showcased his all-around game by recording 22 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists in the last round. Despite Zhukov's great performance the ChelSU lost 76-88 to #3 ranked Shymkent. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The chances of ChelSU ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 11 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Zhukov could help ChelSU to bring them higher in the standings. Zhukov has a great season in Kazakhstan. After 18 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.6ppg (6th best) and assists with 5.4apg (3rd best).

10. Mikhail Mudragelya (193-F/G-2001) of ChelSU - 20 points and 8 rebounds
