Higher League Round 22 (Regular Season): Bars defeat ChelSU in the game between Top 4 teams

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

An interesting game for Bars (15-4) which hosted in Petropavlovsk 4th ranked ChelSU (8-11). Third ranked Bars had an easy win 79-57. Bars dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to ChelSU's 32. Bars forced 24 ChelSU turnovers and had a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-1994) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Artem Kozyrkin (185-1998) contributed with 18 points and 6 assists for the winners. Bars' coach Evgeniy Ovsyannikov felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Dmitry Tkach (193-2003) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for ChelSU. Bars moved-up to second place, which they share with Shymkent. ChelSU lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 11 games lost. Bars is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Karaganda (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. ChelSU will have a break next round.
Higher League top team - Turan (17-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Karaganda (1-18) in Turkistan 102-53. Power forward Begzod Mammatrimov (198-2004) had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Eset Zharkylov chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) during the contest. At the losing side guard Maulen Kenzhegulov (188-2004) responded with 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Turan have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-2 record. Karaganda lost eighth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 18 lost games. Turan will play against Champ1on (#6) in Almaty in the next round where they are favorite. Karaganda will play at home against the league's second-placed Bars to get more than just one victory in their record.

In the last game of round 22 Champ1on was beaten by Shymkent on the road 89-74.



Turan - Karaganda 102-53

Higher League top team - Turan (17-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Karaganda (1-18) in Turkistan 102-53. Turan dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Karaganda's 28. Turan forced 25 Karaganda turnovers and outrebounded them 53-23 including a 21-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Turan players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Karaganda's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Power forward Begzod Mammatrimov (198-2004) had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Eset Zharkylov (195-1998) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) during the contest. Five Turan players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Maulen Kenzhegulov (188-2004) responded with 13 points and guard Alexey Vlasov (190-2007) scored 8 points. Shymkent - Champ1on 89-74

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Shymkent (15-4) beat at home 6th ranked Champ1on (3-16) 89-74. Shymkent forced 27 Champ1on turnovers. Point guard Anuar Shakirov (180-2000) scored 37 points (!!!), 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and forward Aleksei Vereshagin (200-1992) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Tolebi Maligen (187-2007) responded with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Roman Shabatura (191-2007) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Shymkent have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Bars. Newly promoted Champ1on keeps the sixth position with 16 games lost. Shymkent will play against Tigers-KazATU (#5) in Astana in the next round. Champ1on will play at home against the league's leader Turan and hopes to get back on the winning track.
