American Michael Mays (178-PG-1999) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for BK Barsy Atyrau and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 26-year old playmaker had the game-high 46 points adding four rebounds and two assists for Barsy Atyrau in his team's victory, helping them to crush Tobol (#5, 1-15) with 18-point margin 90-72. Barsy Atyrau maintains the 3rd position in Kazakhstan National League. Barsy Atyrau is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 8-8 record. In the team's last game Mays had a remarkable 91.7% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He turned to be Barsy Atyrau's top player in his first season with the team. King University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Mays is league's best scorer averaging so far 25.3ppg. Mays is in league's top in and averages solid 51.8% FGP and 42.9% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young international swingman Pavel Ilyin (194-F/G-1992) of MBK Tobol Kostanay. Ilyin impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 38 points and 11 rebounds. It was enough for Tobol to edge slightly higher-ranked Caspiy Aktau (#4, 6-10) by 6 points 81-75. Despite this victory they still are the league outsider. 15 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Tobol managed to get this year. Ilyin is one of the most experienced players at Tobol and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.1ppg (#4). He also registered 7.6 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was international center Vladimir Ivanov (208-C-1994) of BK Caspiy Aktau (#4). Ivanov got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for nineteen rebounds . Despite Ivanov's great performance the Caspiy Aktau lost 75-81 to slightly lower-ranked Tobol (#5, 1-15). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Caspiy Aktau not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 10 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Ivanov could try to bring Caspiy Aktau's a little bit higher in the standings. Ivanov has individually a great season in Kazakhstan. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.9ppg (3rd best), rebounds with 10.0rpg (#1 in league) and assists with 3.5apg (8th best). He also has 1.1bpg and a FGP of 67.1%.
