Vereshagin's double-double lands him Higher League Player of the Week award

32-year old forward Aleksei Vereshagin (200-F-1992) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for MBK Kazygurt Shymkent and receives a Hoops Agents Higher League Player of the Week award for round 28.
He had a double-double of 26 points and 16 rebounds, while his team outclassed ChelSU (#5, 10-19) with 51-point margin 96-45. Shymkent maintains the 3rd position in Kazakhstan Higher League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Shymkent will need more victories to improve their 23-7 record. Vereshagin has many years of experience at Shymkent, through which he has constantly improved. Vereshagin has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (9th best: 14.8ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 9.2rpg) and averages solid 53.0% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Bektimir Tau (200-PF-2007) of Champ1on. He is a forward in his first season at Champ1on. In the last game Tau recorded an impressive double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Champ1on was edged by the higher-ranked Tigers-KazATU (#4, 13-17) 70-69. This loss caused Champ1on to slide to the very bottom (7) position in the standings. 26 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Champ1on managed to get this year. Tau is a newcomer at Champ1on and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to another Shymkent's star - guard Anuar Shakirov (180-PG-2000). Shakirov showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, 12 rebounds (!!!) and 6 assists in the last round. He was another key player of MBK Kazygurt Shymkent, helping his team with a 96-45 easy win against slightly lower-ranked ChelSU (#5, 10-19). Shymkent needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 23 victories and 7 lost games. Shakirov has a great season in Kazakhstan. After 29 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.1ppg (best scorer) and assists with 5.1apg (2nd best). He also has 2.4spg and a FGP of 51.1%.
