Higher League Round 24 (Regular Season): #1 Turan is defeated by Shymkent

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Higher League. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Turan (19-3) on the court of third ranked Shymkent on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Shymkent 79-75. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Turan. Strangely Turan outrebounded Shymkent 50-34 including 36 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Aleksei Vereshagin (200-1992) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Anuar Shakirov (180-2000) who added 15 points and 6 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Alexander Papshiv (191-1991) with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Shymkent (17-5) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position having just two points less than leader Turan. Turan at the other side still keeps top place with three games lost. Shymkent are looking forward to face ChelSU (#4) in Kostanay in the next round. Turan will play at home against the league's second-placed Bars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Fifth-ranked Tigers-KazATU (8-14) gave a tough game to second ranked Bars (19-4) in Astana. The visitors from Petropavlovsk managed to secure only three-point victory 85-82. However their fans expected easier game. The winners were led by power forward Maksim Nalogov (198-1994) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and Sergey Dyatlik supported him with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Even a double-double of 23 points and 15 rebounds by forward Askar Akhmetzhan (198-1998) did not help to save the game for Tigers-KazATU. Bars have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 19-4 record having just one point less than leader Turan. Tigers-KazATU lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 14 games lost. Bars will play against league's leader Turan in Turkistan in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tigers-KazATU will play at home against Karaganda (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

ChelSU will play against Shymkent and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 24: Tigers-KazATU lost to Turan on the opponent's court 63-72. Bars managed to outperform Champ1on in a home game 69-56. ChelSU managed to beat Champ1on on the road 67-63.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 15 points and 11 rebounds by Bektimir Tau of Champ1on.



ChelSU - Karaganda 72-73

A very close game took place in Kostanay between Karaganda and ChelSU. Seventh ranked Karaganda (3-19) got a very close victory on the road over 4th ranked ChelSU (9-13).
