The most exciting game of round 24 in the Higher League took place in Kostanay. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 4th ranked ChelSU (8-12) to seventh ranked Karaganda (2-19) 73-72 on Saturday evening. The best player for the winners was swingman Medeu Aukesh (195-2005) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Center Saveliy Shestak (200-2007) chipped in 14 points and 14 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Dmitry Tkach (193-2003) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds. Karaganda maintains seventh position with 2-19 record. ChelSU lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 12 games lost.
Leader Turan delivered the nineteenth victory. This time they beat 5th ranked Tigers-KazATU (7-13) 72-63 in Turkistan. It was a good game for guard Alymzhan Maksutov (180-1994) who led his team to a victory with 20 points. Sergei Bormatenkov contributed with 8 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Askar Akhmetzhan (198-1998) replied with 19 points and 9 rebounds for Tigers-KazATU. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Turan (19-2) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Tigers-KazATU at the other side keeps the fifth place with 13 games lost.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Petropavlovsk. Local Bars (17-4) beat 6th ranked Champ1on (3-18) 69-56 on Saturday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Maksim Nalogov who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Tolebi Maligen with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bars have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 17-4 record having just two points less than leader Turan. Champ1on lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth place with 18 games lost.
