Mahram registered the second win in Group B of WABA League. The Iranian team held off Duhok to stay on top of the standings. Nikoloz Tskitishvili (212-C/F-83) stepped up with impressive 29 points and 14 rebounds to pace Mahram. Duhok suffered the third loss in a row.
Mahram and Duhok stayed neck and neck throughout intense first quarter. The Iranian side eked out a 26:24 lead after ten minutes. Mahram maintained the lead throughout the second quarter. However Duhok stayed within a striking distance. Mahram went into the locker room up by just 3 points 45:42. The margin grew in the third term. Mahram gradually boosted the gap taking a 67:60 advantage with one quarter to go. The Iranian side went on a 15:5 rally at the start of the final period and raced to the victory at the end. Hamed Afagh (190-G-83) had 19 points, while Samad Nik Khahbahrami (198-F-83) added 14 points for the winning side. Ali Hamad (193-F-86) and Mohammed Mahdi (205-F/C-80) answered with 16 points each for Duhok. Chamberlain Oguchi had 12 points in the loss.

Newly promoted Iraqi Airways (Superleague) tabbed American forward Muhammed Ahmed (203-100kg). He just graduated from Bridgeport (NCAA2). In 25 games he averaged 14.4ppg, 6.3rpg, 1.1apg and 1.1bpg last season. He can count that year as a very successful as was selected to All-ECC 2nd Team. As mentioned above Ahmed is just out of the college and it will be his first season in pro basketball. He played in the final of NJCAA D1 Region IX in 2014. Al Nift Baghdad (Superleague) signed 22-year old American forward Shaheed Davis (206-95kg-94, college: Cent.Florida). He already started the season at DBL Sharks Sheffield in British BBL league, but left the team in Oct.'16. In four games he had very impressive stats: 16.0ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.5bpg this season.
