Al Shams Cairo has signed experienced 39-year-old American 193cm guard Demarius Bolds. Bolds played college basketball at MWSU and most recently played for Al Shurtah in the Iraqi Superleague.

He has played professionally in Algeria for GS Petroliers, Bahrain for Al-Muharraq, Greece for Apollon Patras, Lavrio, and Kymis, Iraq for Nift Al-Basra, Lebanon for Champville, Moutahed, and Atlas, Lithuania for Lietkabelis, Qatar for Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah, Romania for Targu Mures, Turkey for Final Spor, United Kingdom for Lions, Czech Republic for Kolin, and ABA for St. Louis S.

Among many awards, he played in the final of the Iraqi League in 2023. He was voted to the Asia-Basket.com All-Iraqi League 1st Team in the same year. He is close to retirement age as a player, and it may be one of the last seasons in his extensive career, which he may end at Al Shams.

He previously attended one of the camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.
