Al Shurtah tabs Terry Smith

Terry Smith

Al Shurtah Police (Superleague) signed Terry Smith, a 38-year-old American point guard who also holds an Armenian passport. Standing at 185cm, Smith played college basketball at Mercyhurst. He began the season with FOS Provence Basket in the French ProB league, where he averaged 7.6 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in 14 appearances. Prior to that, he played for Hermine Nantes Atlantique, another French team in the ProB league.
He's a highly experienced player, having played professionally in Bulgaria (Akademik Sofia and Rilski), Croatia, France (ASVEL Lyon Villeurbanne Basket and Hyeres-Toulon), Germany, Russia, Spain (Joventut), Switzerland (Monthey-Chablais and Geneve), Turkey, Ukraine (Cherkasy), and Armenia (Urartu).
Among the many awards his team has won, one notable achievement was the French ProB Leaders Cup in 2020. Additionally, he was voted as the Eurobasket.com All-French ProB Bosman of the Year in the same year. As he approaches retirement age, it is likely that this may be one of his last seasons as a player. He may choose to end his extensive career at Al Shurtah.
He graduated from Mercyhurst University in 2008, and this is his 16th season in professional basketball.
