Ali Hussein comes back to BC Lulea, ex Al Naft

BC Lulea (Basketligan) has signed Samir Ali Hussein, a 32-year-old center from Iraq who holds dual citizenship. This marks his return to Lulea, as he has previously played for the team. Prior to joining BC Lulea, Hussein began the season with Al Naft in the Iraqi Superleague. However, in his sole game, he failed to score and only managed 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks.
Fourteen years ago, he represented Sweden at the FIBA EuroBasket U18 in Vilnius, Lithuania. In that event, he played 9 games and had an average of 5.3 points per game, 6.6 rpg, 1.9 apg, and 1.7 spg. His field goal percentage (FGP) was 44.7%, three-point percentage (3PT) was 12.5%, and free throw percentage (FT) was 72.7%.
He has also played professionally in Iraq (Duhok), Sweden (RIG Lulea and Lulea Steelers), and Iraq. His team won the Iraqi Cup in 2024.
In 2022, he was voted to the Eurobasket.com All-Swedish BasketEttan 2nd Team, receiving numerous awards.
