Al-Hashd Social Sports Club (Superleague) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 34-year old Lebanese international 203cm power forward ALI Haidar (college: Michigan Tech). It is actually his comeback to Baghdad as he has played here before. He played most recently at Beirut Club in Lebanese LBL league. In 19 games he recorded very impressive stats: 16.5ppg, 6.4rpg, 2.2apg and 1.3spg last season. He helped them to end the regular season as a second best team in the league. They also advanced to the league semifinals. Great season indeed as he was voted to Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Honorable Mention and All-Domestic Players Team.
Haidar represented Lebanon at the FIBA Olympic Games Qualifying Tournament in Valencia (Spain) this year. During this event he scored an average of 6.7 points per game and had 3.3 rebounds per game.
He is a very experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Africa and of course North America) in eight different countries. Haidar has played previously professionally in Bahrain (Al-Manama), Canada (Rattlers), Jordan (Al Wihdat), Lebanon (Al Riyadi, Champville and Dynamo), Qatar (Al Gharafa), Slovenia (Sencur Gorenjska Kranj), Syria (Al Karameh) and Libya (Al Nasr).
Among many awards he won Jordanian League championship title in 2020. He was also selected to Asia-Basket.com All-Iraqi League Import Player of the Year back in 2021.
Haidar graduated from Michigan Technological University in 2013 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball.
