Champville managed to eke out a tough victory over pesky Duhok at the start of WABA League campaign in Group B. The Lebanese team escaped with a 7-point win behind 30 points and 9 rebounds from Samuel Hoskin (206-F/C-79, agency: Higher Vision Sports, college: De Paul).
Both teams entered the game aggressively. They exchanged baskets as Champville snatched a 25:22 lead after ten minutes. Fadi Khatib (199-F-79, agency: Pro Management Agency) went on court in the second term helping Champville clear off to a 14-point halftime lead 50:36. But Duhok struck back in the third quarter. The Iraqi team narrowed the gap and eventually tied things up at 71. Champville however regained control in the final term. They spurred back in front and hung on to win the battle. Garnett Thompson (207-F/C-80, college: Providence) finished with 25 points, 13 boards and 4 assists for Champville. Fadi Khatib had 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Malcolm Battles (205-F/C-79, college: N.Mexico) answered with 22 points and 16 boards. Chamberlain Oguchi (198-G-86, college: Illinois St.) had 21 points and 8 rebounds in the loss.

Superleague is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 11 rounds left. Leader Al Shurtah delivered the tenth win on Monday night. This time they crushed 8th ranked Al-Tadamoun (4-7) 106-67 in Baghdad. Al Shurtah maintains first place with 10-1 record. Al-Tadamoun lost fifth consecutive game. The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Al Shurtah (9-1) in Baghdad on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Al Nift (8-2) 78-71. Defending champion Al Karkh (Superleague) inked 25-year old American swingman Corday Sims (196-95kg-91, college: Peru State). He started the season at Arantia in Luxembourg Total League. In 13 games he averaged impressive 25.1ppg, 8.1rpg, 2.3apg and 1.5spg this season.
