Iraq finishes on the 9th spot in Beirut, Syria is last at the 3rd FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup. The team came back to the competitions and overcame Syria 84:82 in their last game in Lebanon.
Iraq opened the game with 8-2 lead and had 18:15 after the first period. The team increased to 28:23 and continued to dominate the court. Both squads finished the first half as Iraq enjoyed 43:31 halftime advantage

Iraq finishes on the 9th spot in Beirut, Syria is last at the 3rd FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup. The team came back to the competitions and overcame Syria 84:82 in their last game in Lebanon. Iraq opened the game with 8-2 lead and had 18:15 after the first period. The team increased to 28:23 and continued to dominate the court. Both squads finished the first half as Iraq enjoyed 43:31 halftime advantage. The difference remained in the court after another 5 minutes in the third period and Iraq had 57:45. Syria managed to reduce a bit to 66:58 after three quarters. Moreover Syria pushed the tempo in the start of the fourth frame and grabbed 74:73 deficit. Iraq however produced some important baskets at the very end and won 84:82. Shamon paced all the winners with 20 points and Mahdi Jalah scored 17. Mahdi Mohammed nailed 16, while Munshid collected 10 points and 12 assists. Madanly finished the night with 23 points in the losing effort. Dyar nailed 21 and Osfeira posted 15. Syria made 51 total Rebounds, while Iraq had 36.

Japan wins Group A at the Stankovic Cup as the team finished with 3-1 record the Preliminary Round. In their last game the favorites overcame Iraq 87:72 as the latter finished 5th in the group. The result win also ensured that Iran, Chinese Taipei and Kazakhstan all of them tied at 2-2 in win-loss follow Japan in that order into the last eight stage.

Japan wins Group A at the Stankovic Cup as the team finished with 3-1 record the Preliminary Round. In their last game the favorites overcame Iraq 87:72 as the latter finished 5th in the group. The result win also ensured that Iran, Chinese Taipei and Kazakhstan all of them tied at 2-2 in win-loss follow Japan in that order into the last eight stage. Japan just needed the win to ensure the Quarterfinal birth and they made it. The team started with 13:4 the opening tip and reached 24:15 after the first 10 minutes. Iraq did not give up and reduced to 31:27 in the first five minutes of the second quarter. They managed to keep the same difference at the end of the half as the teams finished it with 39:35. The third quarter belonged to Japan as they increased the lead to 54:42 after 25 minutes of the game. Japan closed the third quarter at 61:53 and did not allow the opponents to come closer. Kosuke Takeuchi (205-C/F-85) erupted with 26 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Takumi Ishizaki (188-G-84) followed him with 14, while Makoto Nagayama (184-G-77) added 12. Hamazan produced 15 points in the losing case. Mohammed Mahdi (203-C-80) and SHAMON Machael delivered 14 points each in defeat.
