The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL. Top ranked Aisin AW (31-7) recorded its seventh loss in Aichi on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by tenth ranked Kanazawa (10-30) 101-93. Kanazawa made 35-of-44 free shots (79.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Aisin AW turnovers. 28 personal fouls committed by Aisin AW helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) fired a double-double by scoring 51 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds for the winners. point guard Daichi Tomioka (165-95) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-96, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds for Shizuoka. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Okayama maintains second position with 30-10 record behind leader Aisin AW. Iwate's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Iwate have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 26-14 record. Loser Toyoda Gosei keeps the sixth place with 19 games lost. Rest of the games of round 22 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are: Tokyo HT was defeated by Gifu in a road game 78-70. Kagoshima beat Saitama at home 81-69. Iwate lost to Toyoda Gosei on the opponent's court 79-86. Kagoshima outscored Saitama in a home game 83-62. Tokyo HT managed to beat Gifu on the road 82-76. The best stats of 22th round was 22 points and 5 rebounds by Worth Smith of Gifu.
Gifu - Tokyo HT 78-70 The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Tokyo HT's (13-23) road loss to seventh ranked Gifu (13-27) 70-78 on Saturday. Strangely Tokyo HT outrebounded Gifu 45-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Gifu made 7 blocks. Forward Mamadou Gueye (201-93, college: Alberta) fired 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Worth Smith (198-93, college: Navy) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. Four Gifu players scored in double figures.
