Regular Season Round 1: Toyoda Gosei - Shizuoka 88-85

There was a small surprise in Aichi where Toyoda Gosei edged Shizuoka 88-85 on Sunday. American center CJ Gettys (213-94, college: Rutgers, agency: Haylett Sports) fired 21 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (196-92, college: Vermont) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-96, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) produced 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and American Luke Evans (203-91, college: CBU) added 20 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Shizuoka players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Toyoda Gosei will face Tokyo HT at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Shizuoka will play against Tokyo EX and hope to win that game.
