Regular Season Round 18: Toyoda Gosei - Okayama 87-81

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Okayama (26-8) in Aichi on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked Toyoda Gosei (18-16) 87-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Okayama. Toyoda Gosei dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Okayama's 32. They outrebounded Okayama 43-29 including 33 on the defensive glass. Toyoda Gosei looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American center CJ Gettys (213-94, college: Rutgers, agency: Haylett Sports) had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (196-92, college: Vermont) chipped in 5 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: FAU) with 24 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Chris Washburn (203-93, college: TCU) scored 8 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Toyoda Gosei maintains sixth position with 18-16 record. Okayama at the other side still keeps top place with eight games lost. Toyoda Gosei will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Okayama will play on the road against Kanazawa in Ishikawa and is hoping to win this game.
