Very expected game when 11th ranked Saitama (5-33) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Shizuoka (28-10) 93-79 on Saturday. Shizuoka dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Saitama's 32 and made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game, while Saitama only scored five points from the stripe. They outrebounded Saitama 37-25 including a 31-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Shizuoka looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Saitama was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-96, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 17 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and naturalized American Luke Evans (203-91, college: CBU) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Shizuoka players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Keita Shinkawa (183-95) with 21 points and point guard Nakano Nakano (182-94) scored 20 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Shizuoka. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Tokyo EX and Okayama. Saitama lost their third game in a row. They stay dead last with 33 lost games. Shizuoka will face league's second-placed Okayama on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Saitama will play against Kagoshima (#9) in Renova and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
