:: RAOUF ALMALKI, Palestine General Delegation Chairman on Spain
Its a great honour for us to have a team like Estudiantes Madrid in our country, one of the most referenced teams in Spanish Basketball.
The arena that Estudiantes Madrid will open in Hebron its a part of the Palestinian Authority work to build an sports infrastructure. Its one of a mount of projects preparing to the next proclamation of Palestine State
Womens team visit to Spain is on the concern that sport on Palestine is not only for men.
:: JAIME LISSAVETZKY,Spanish State Sport Secretary Sport doesnt live from the big achievements. Its something more than that. Activities like this trip of Estudiantes Madrid to Palestine mean to make the most of this golden age of Spanish Sport.
If theres a team that has got this educative component we need that is Estudiantes Madrid. It was so easy to speak with them and they have had a great disposition to carry out this project from the beginning.
Sport also has got things in common with coexistence and peace. It can help to change the society, and thats why its very important that a club as Estudiantes Madrid travels to Palestine, and I want to thank them for doing it.
:: JUAN FRANCISCO GARCA, Asefa Estudiantes Madrid President. Its a pride for Club Estudiantes Madrid that CSD had selected us for representing Spain in this mission were going to develop at Palestine.
Its such a great illusion for Estudiantes Madrid to use the sport as an element of brotherhood and unity between the people. And also that it can help to alleviate the consequences of the conflict its lived on Palestine
Weve wanted to complement our presence on Palestine to do a number of activities in the cooperation field through the Estudiantes Madrid foundation. Especially to contribute between kids and young people, the most unprotected persons in all the conflict.
We want to make a visit to the Palestinian Paralympic Comitee, because one of the main work areas of Estudiantes Madrid Foundation is basketball for disabled people

The National Team took part in the 10th WABA tournament taking place in Duhok, Iraq from the 9th 13th of June, 2010, along with Iran (B), Syria (U23) and Iraq, being the only four teams (having Jordan, Lebanon and Yemen withdrawing) qualifying to the Stankovic Cup in Lebanon from the 7th 15th of August.
The National Team according to coach Mohammed Najjar (Shurta Team) who was responsible for analyzing the WABA tournament games said that Palestine's game against Iran was the best & most exciting game in the tournament where the Palestinians played passionately, competitively and where able to keep up & lead at some point with the well known Iranian team.
The National Team coached by Derrick Crayton assisted by Coach Nader Marta, consists of several well known players such as Ibrahim Al Habash (194-F-75), Yahia Al Khatib (190-G-77), Sani Sakakini (204-C-88) (Jordanian League), Saleem Sakakini, Mahdi Eid (194-F-81), Tawfiq Rafidi, Hussein AlHaj (Syrian League) as well as other good & young players who gained great game experience Ibrahim AlBandak, Nabeel Nasser, Jack Tannous, Adham AbdelQader and Oday Hilal.
The National Team played 3 games with different results reflecting great gaps, exhaustion and definitely not enough preparation, however, in their last game against Iran, they played strong throughout the whole game.
Palestine vs. Iraq 59 74 8/15, 19/21, 13/16, 19/22
Palestine vs. Syria 53 - 100
Palestine vs. Iran 63 78 19/18, 17/22, 19/21, 8/17
The federation will need to look into the current roster as there are other several well-known experienced players who stood out in the SuperLeague, as well as putting out a well organized plan for the National team to get ready for the Stankovic cup, intensive practices & camps in neighboring countries so as not only to take part for the sake of taking part but to reflect good Palestinian Basketball in its 1st of time history taking part in this Asian Tournament.
Last but not least, special thanks to the president of the Kurdistan region, Mr.Masod Barzany, Duhok governor, Mr.Tamar Ramadhan, and Kurdish people for hosting the Palestinian Delegation.
