Defending champion Al Kuwait SC (D1) landed experienced 34-year old Palestinian international 204cm power forward Sani Sakakini for new season. Sakakini played most recently at Taichung Suns in Taiwanese T1 League. In 34 games he averaged impressive 24.2ppg, 13.4rpg, 4.9apg and 1.5spg last season. He helped them to make it to the Taiwanese T1 League final after they ended regular season as second best team. It was a very successful year in his career as he was voted to Asia-basket.com Taiwanese T1 League All-Imports Team and League Player of the Week (5 times).
Sakakini was selected to Asia-Basket.com All-Chinese CBA Honorable Mention back in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
The previous (2021) summer he played at Orthodoxi Beit Sahour (PBBA) in Palestine. He contributed to his team winning the league title.
Sakakini also represented Palestine at the Asian Championship in Changsha-Hunan (China) seven years ago. His stats at that event were 8 games: Score-1 (22.4ppg), Reb-1 (12.6rpg), 2.4apg, 1.5spg, FGP: 46.2%, 3PT: 20.0%, FT: 67.9%.
He is a very experienced player. Sakakini has played also professionally in Jordan, Lebanon (Champville and Hoops), Venezuela (Trotamundos), China (Blue Whales, Pioneers, Long Lions, Eagles and Monkey Kings) and United Arab Emirates (Shabab Al Ahli).
