Al Sadd outscored Al Gharafa to win the championship series 2-1. Al Sadd forced 19 Al Gharafa turnovers and outrebounded them 50-32 including a 39-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Montenegrin forward Alen Hadzibegovic (207-1999, agency: BeoBasket) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. American guard Byron Ashe (186-1995, college: Longwood) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Al Sadd's coach Vassilis Bratsiakos used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Tyler Harris (208-1993, college: Auburn, agency: Interperformances) who recorded 22 points and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Nedim Muslic (197-1998) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively.

Al Sadd Clinch HH the Amir Cup Basketball Title - April 17, 2022

Al Sadd clinched the prestigious HH the Amir Cup Basketball title for the season (2021-2022) after defeating Al Arabi (92-78) in the final held this evening at Al Gharafa Sports Club Hall. The final match was strong especially in the first round (21-19), third round (19-18) and fourth round (20-18). However, Al Sadd beat Al Arabi in the second round (32-23) by nine points and maintained his lead till the end of the match. Al Sadd won the HH the Amir Cup title for the third time. The team also crowned winner of the Basketball League last month after beating Al Gharafa (2-1). Alen Hadzibegovic (207-F-1999, agency: BeoBasket) scored 24 points and 11 rebounds, while Byron Ashe (186-G-1995, college: Longwood) added 21 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Charles Hinkle (198-G-1988, college: American) replied with 22 points for Al Arabi.
