Regular Season Round 28: Al Wakrah - Al Rayyan 99-75

D1 top team - Al Wakrah (10-3) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Al Rayyan (1-11) 99-75. Al Wakrah dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Al Rayyan's 40. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American Julius Coles Jr (193-1989, college: Canisius) who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 9 assists. The other American import swingman Brandon Spearman (191-1991, college: Hawaii) contributed with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Spearman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Al Wakrah's coach Ihab Galal felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tony Townsend replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and international center Meho Haracic (213-1998) added 24 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Al Rayyan. Al Wakrah maintains first position with 10-3 record. Al Rayyan at the other side stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
