Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Doha: Al Arabi (#7) and Al Rayyan (#8). Al Arabi (2-2) smashed visiting Al Rayyan (0-4) by 20 points 107-87. Al Arabi dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Al Rayyan's 30. They outrebounded Al Rayyan 51-35 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Al Arabi players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 14 points, 17 rebounds, 15 assists and 4 steals. American forward Nick West (210-94, college: AAMU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Monroe is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. DR Congolese-Canadian guard Myck Kabongo (190-92, college: Texas) replied with a triple-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists and American Tavarion Nix (201-92, college: Midwestern St.) added 21 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Al Rayyan. Five Al Arabi and four Al Rayyan players scored in double figures. Al Arabi moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Al Khor. Al Rayyan at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Qatar Club. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
