Regular Season Round 11: Al Gharafa - Al Wakrah 70-86

An interesting game for Al Wakrah (5-1) which played road game in Doha against second-ranked Al Gharafa (3-2). First ranked Al Wakrah had an easy win 86-70. Al Wakrah dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Al Gharafa's 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American players dominated the game. Julius Coles Jr (193-89, college: Canisius) orchestrated the victory with a triple-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Swingman Brandon Spearman (191-91, college: Hawaii) contributed with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Spearman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Guard Aaron Mitchell (188-89, college: Longwood) answered with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and center Tyler Harris (208-93, college: Auburn, agency: Interperformances) added 17 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Al Gharafa. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Wakrah have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-1 record. Defending champion Al Gharafa keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Al Arabi. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
