D1 round 8 most important game was a victory of Al Shamal over 7th ranked Al Arabi 95-94 on Wednesday night. Al Shamal looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American point guard Willie Warren (193-89, college: Oklahoma, agency: Interperformances) saved the victory by scoring 26 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Serbian-Montenegrin forward Milko Bjelica (207-84) contributed with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The former international forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry) replied with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Christian Casas added 16 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Al Arabi. Five Al Shamal and four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Al Shamal (2-1) moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Gharafa and Al Khor. Al Arabi at the other side keeps the seventh position with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
